About JohnNY

Sergeant Johnny Ransdell began his law enforcement career on September 15, 1994, assigned to District One Patrol, where he developed a strong foundation in patrol operations and community policing. In 1996, he was selected for the Street Crimes Unit, focusing on proactive enforcement and criminal investigations.

 

In 1997, he was promoted to Agent and assigned to the Special Operations Unit, working complex cases requiring advanced investigative and tactical skills. He continued his investigative career in 1999 with the Major Crimes Unit, partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration Mobile Enforcement Team through 2000 on narcotics, gang, and homicide investigations.

 

Promoted to Sergeant in May 2002, Ransdell was assigned to District Three A Squad, where he supervised day and night patrol shifts for nine years. During this time, he led officers in high-activity districts with an emphasis on accountability, officer development, and operational excellence.

 

In 2011, Sergeant Ransdell transferred to the Traffic Division, supervising the Fatal Accident Crash Team for ten years. His leadership responsibilities also included oversight of the Patrol Boat Team, coordinating traffic enforcement, crash investigations, and marine patrol operations.

 

In 2021, he was assigned to the Community Relations Unit, focusing on strengthening relationships between the department and the community. Following the 2024 merger of

the Juvenile Engagement Team with the Community Relations Unit, he assumed supervisory responsibility for both units, expanding community outreach and youth engagement initiatives.

 

With over 31 years of dedicated service, Sergeant Johnny Ransdell retired in 2025 with a career defined by leadership, adaptability, and a strong commitment to public service.
